Scriptura is an offline Bible study application designed to help you engage with Scripture. Your privacy is fundamental to how we built this app. Scriptura requires no account, no cloud storage, and operates fully offline. This policy explains what data exists on your device and how it is handled.
All data generated through your use of Scriptura is stored locally on your device. This includes:

Scriptura is designed to work fully offline. Your bookmarks, notes, highlights, and all study content never leave your device. There is no account system, no cloud synchronization, and no remote database for user-generated content.
The app connects to the internet only in the following cases:
Outside of these cases, no personal data is transmitted to any server.
Scriptura does not include any analytics frameworks, advertising SDKs, or tracking mechanisms. We do not collect usage statistics, crash reports, or any form of telemetry. Your reading habits and study patterns are entirely private.
Scriptura offers an optional one-time upgrade to Scriptura Pro, which unlocks premium features. This purchase is processed entirely through Google Play or the App Store — we do not collect, store, or have access to your payment details, credit card information, or billing address.
Your purchase status (whether you have upgraded) is stored locally on your device. If you reinstall the app, you can restore your purchase through the platform's built-in restore mechanism at no additional cost.
Scriptura includes the King James Version (KJV) and the World English Bible (WEB). Both are public domain translations. The Bible text data is bundled with the application and accessed entirely offline.
Advanced study features in Scriptura process data entirely on your device. No text, queries, or study content is sent to external services or cloud APIs. All processing happens locally.
Scriptura tracks your reading patterns, search queries, bookmarks, and highlights to generate personalized recommendations and reading insights.
This analysis is performed entirely on your device. Your behavioral data is stored in a local database and is never transmitted to any server. You can clear this data at any time from Settings > Manage Your Data.
Scriptura can send you optional local notifications such as daily verse reminders and reading streak alerts. These are generated entirely on your device based on your local reading data.
No external push notification service is used. You can enable, disable, or customize notification timing from Settings > Notifications.
Scriptura does not share your personal data with third parties. We have no advertising relationships or data-sharing agreements with any external entity.

Since all data is stored locally, uninstalling Scriptura permanently removes every trace of your usage.
Scriptura contains no age-gated content. All content within the app consists of Biblical text from public domain translations and study insights. The app does not collect personal information from any user, regardless of age.
If we update this Privacy Policy, the revised version will be included in a future app update. The effective date at the top of this policy will be updated accordingly.
